I ask that you do something amazing

A glimpse into my world down here...

Tomorrow is August 17th, which means there is now only two whole months until I turn 30! I have been thinking long and hard now for some time what I should do to celebrate this milestone in my life, and I have finally come to a decision. To make this decision a reality I am going to need to ask for a little help from you.

Before I elaborate further I want to give you a little bit of a backstory;

First thing that you need to know is that by day I am a maths teacher (well not right this moment because here in the UK we are still in the middle of the summer holidays) and although I don't particularly enjoy my job I do believe that every child has the right to an education. The students that I teach don't fully appreciate that there are still parts of the world where some children, mostly girls don't get to go to school.

Secondly, I am having a major declutter in my house, taking a more minimalist approach to life. At this moment I tried a few times to try and explain why I am choosing this path but it all sounded so forced, instead I am going to quote The Minimalists;

"Minimalism is a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life's path, we can all make room for the most important aspects of life: health, relationships, passion, growth and contribution."

So what do these two things have in common I hear you ask? Well as I have said I am trying a minimalist approach to life, so I am asking you my lovely friends, family, person who just happened to find themselves on my blog that rather than buy me a physical gift this year that you instead donate to a great cause.

The cause that I am asking you to give to is the United Nations Foundation programme Girl Up, which you do so by following this link to my just giving page. I am not asking that you pledge stupidly large amounts, just maybe a little if you feel inclined.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, thank you so much more if you have clicked on the link you are an amazing person.

I will be following this post with more highlighting the work that Girl Up do just in case you need a little more convincing so look out for those.
