Take time for yourself

A glimpse into my world down here...

Happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone! I do realise that by the time that this is posted that the day will nearly be over but I wanted to pass on the good feelings anyway.

I hope that you have had an absolutely wonderful day, be that with friends, family or just hiding inside having a Netflix marathon. However you have spent today what I want you to remember is that this wonderful calm doesn't just have to be for days off.

Some of you will know that last year I was treated for depression, basically because I was putting so much pressure on myself and not giving myself enough time to stop and take time out for myself.

As part of my recovery I read a lot about the idea of self love, and the little things that you can do to promote it. I have learned a lot in the past 18 months and I want to share it with you lovely people.

So with this in mind I want to start another little series here on my blog and make Mondays all about self love and motivation. The idea being that I will share with you the books that I have found helpful, the changes I have made and just general feel good stuff.

I want to start the first in the series starting with something simple and that is the importance of having a little bit of you time (see I've gone full circle now).

Here are my little ideas that you can do at some point this week to have a little me time

  • Read a book
  • Go for a walk
  • Just sit with a cup of tea
  • Meditate - try an app there are some great ones
  • Make something yummy to eat
  • Rearrange your wardrobe
  • Light a candle
  • Do a face mask (look out for my post on the new Lush face masks)
  • Craft something
  • Make a new playlist
  • Watch the world go by through your window
  • Catch up on your favourite blog posts
  • Eat a little chocolate
  • Send a card to a friend
  • Put some music on and dance
  • Have a general declutter
  • Cuddle someone you love - yes dogs and cats count
  • Go to bed early
  • Do a little bit of colouring in
  • Binge watch your favourite show
  • Ring an old friend
  • Do a little yoga
  • Have a digital detox
  • Wear your favourite party dress
  • Sing at the top of your voice
  • Watch the sun going down
  • Make your bed
  • Build a fort
  • Paint your nails
  • Have a bath

I hope this is enough to get you started and I would love to hear if you do any of these for the first time, or if they are part of your everyday life in the comments below.
